For decades, Indigenous Peoples have faced murder, abuse, displacement, cultural theft, and the erosion of their lifestyles and traditions leaving them struggling desperately for survival. Without active and intensive efforts to protect and strengthen Indigenous communities, prior to the end of this century we could very well witness the extinction of many of these people and their cultures. First Peoples Worldwide was created to promote Indigenous self-governance and assist in the delivery of culturally appropriate economic development. Tribute Gifts
Make a donation to support Indigenous Peoples in honor or memory of someone you care about. Your donation is tax deductible and First Peoples will acknowledge your gift to the person in whose name you make it. Please be sure to indicate the name and address of the person on whose behalf you have made your tribute gift so that First Peoples can recognize your generosity.
Legacy Giving
Many donors use their wills to make contributions to charities. After meeting your obligations to loved ones, you may find that you have enough resources left to make a gift to First Peoples Worldwide. Such a contribution is a gift of your lifetime – a legacy of hope to future generations.
Matching Gifts
If your company has a matching gift program, your gift to First Peoples Worldwide may be doubled or even tripled. Forms are available from your human resources or personnel department. Send the completed form to us and we will do the rest.

In some cases a spouse’s company will also match the gift. If you are not sure whether a particular company matches gifts, please feel free to call or email us. We will be happy to find out for you.
Challenge Grants
If you are planning to make a donation to First Peoples Worldwide, why not turn it into a challenge grant and help raise additional funds? To create a challenge grant, you state that your contribution must be matched by other donors before we can use the principal. In this way, your gift doubles in value as it motivates others to “rise to the challenge” and give an equal amount.
In-kind donations
Gifts of goods and services are vitally important to First Peoples Worldwide. In-kind donations allow us to take funds we would have originally spent on their purchase and use them in other areas of our work. In-kind donations allow you to share your time, skills, and products and still receive a tax deduction for their fair market value.
At different times First Peoples seeks in-kind donations for the Indigenous Peoples we support. Please email nadamson@firstpeoplesworldwide.org with the subject DONATIONS prior to sending any in-kind donations to verify what specific items First Peoples currently needs.
Some items First Peoples may need include:
- Used laptop computers
- Satellite telephone equipment
- Minutes for satellite telephone call time
- Blankets and tarps
Securities
A gift of securities is an excellent way to strengthen First Peoples Worldwide while reducing your own estate, income, and capital gains taxes on appreciated assets. Securities offer a unique opportunity to build a better future for Indigenous communities.
Donor-Advised Funds
Donor-advised partnerships provide a simple and effective way to carry out your charitable giving. They allow you to create a grant fund under the Tides Center’s non-profit registration, receive a tax deduction, and be actively involved in your fund’s design and grantmaking process.
