For now, please stay long enough to hear the speech of our President and Founder, Rebecca Adamson, in honor of the late Stewart Udall, 1920-2010, former Secretary of the Interior Department – a lifelong friend of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Indigenous Peoples, a tireless advocate for the environment, and patriarch of a notable U.S political family that shares these commitments.
Ms. Adamson spoke on 21 Sept. 2010, at a ceremony marking the re-designation of the main Interior Department building in Washington, D.C., as the "Stewart Lee Udall Department of the Interior Building." Other speakers included U.S. Senators Tom and Mark Udall, and Jeff Bingaman; Congressman Raul M. Grijalva; and current Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.
